How To Make The Proper Underwear
Posted on April 21st, 2008 by howtomakestuffAdam and Eve are our ancestors according to the Christian faith. They symbolize the defining characteristics of human beings. Unfortunately, they also did not apply proper hygienic practices as they covered their sensitive areas with dirty leaves. They were banished from the holy garden, and were probably afflicted with skin infections in the genital area. If they only made underwear, they would have suffered one less punishment from their creator.
Underwear may be sheer pieces of clothing, but they are some of the most important things that a person wears. The absorbent fabric used is built to cushion the groin and protect it from skin diseases and physical injuries. It’s important to have enough underwear to last you the entire week without repetition. Sew yourself more briefs, boxers or lingerie if your underwear cabinet is not filled to the brim.
With sewing prowess and a little creativity, you can easily make your own underwear. You simply need to sew together patterned and, sometimes, padded fabrics and your new underwear will be ready.
Lingerie
Lingerie is strictly made for women. It is composed of two parts, namely the bra and the panty. The bra is often padded to shield women’s breasts, while the panty is made of stretchable fabric to cover the groin.
Materials Used:
- cotton fabric (2 x 2 feet)
- satin fabric (2 x 2 feet)
- 2 foam cups
- garter (3 meters)
- scissors
- sewing needle
- sewing thread
- tape measure
- pencil
Purchase Materials
You can find the fabric and the garter in textile stores. Usually, you will find a lot of cotton fabrics in a textile store. Pick a soft and sturdy sheet from the bunch then go over to the satin section. Get a good-looking satin sheet, along with two foam cups and a two-meter string of garter. Once done, go to a needlework store and purchase all the sewing equipment that you need.
Set the Dimensions of Your Underwear
Measure the girth and the depth of your chest area then get the measurement of your waistline. Take note of those measurements since they will be the dimensions of your bra and your panty.
Create Your Panty
Mark the cotton sheet in accordance with the dimensions of your panty. Cut the cotton fabric to form the front and back sides of your panty. Sew one of the sides of the cotton sheets together. Once done, cut a string of garter then position it on the top portion of the panty. Roll a portion of the fabric to cover the garter and create a hemline. Now, join the front and back sides with your sewing equipment to complete your panty.
Make a Bra
The bra is a bit more challenging to create than the panty. Start-off by getting your satin sheet, garter and scissors. Cut six separate sheets from your supply of satin (2 sheets for the breast cups, 2 side straps, 2 shoulder straps). Now, get the garter and cut two strips for the side straps and another two for the shoulder straps.
Cover the garter strips with the four satin sheets then sew the satin sheets in place. Once done, get the two foam cups and cover them with the two remaining satin sheets. Position all the satin sheets properly, and then sew them together to finish your bra.
You can now lounge around without worrying about the safety of your private parts with your lingerie.
Briefs
Briefs are made to hold the groin in a fixed position.
Materials Used:
- cotton fabric (2 x 2 feet)
- garter (3 feet)
- scissors
- sewing needle
- sewing thread
- tape measure
- pencil
Purchase Materials
First, go to a textile shop and get a rather tough cotton fabric and some garter. Head over to a sewing shop and purchase all the sewing equipment that you do not have at home.
Set the Dimensions
Get your tape measure and get the measurement of your waistline. Once done, measure the distances from your waist to your butt. Write the measurements on a piece of paper so that you can readily view them during the creation stage.
Create Your Briefs
Draw the outline of your briefs’ front and back sides on the cotton fabric. Make sure that you follow the measurements that you took awhile ago, since wrong-sized underwear is uncomfortable to wear. Once outlined, cut the front and back sides of your briefs. Sew one side of the two sheets together. Position the garter on the topmost portion of the now-adjoined cotton sheet. Once done, roll the top portion of the sheet to cover the garter then create a hemline to seal the garter within the rolled cotton. You can now stitch the cotton sheets together.
Now, your briefs are ready to serve and protect. Go to where the action is. Your undergarment has got you covered.
