As you watch a popular summer blockbuster in a movie theater, you cannot help but wish that you had your own cinema at home. But how on god’s green earth will you be able to transport a cinema inside your living room? Thanks to the ingenious minds of electronics manufacturers, you can recreate a compact version of a movie theater in your own home. Just purchase the right equipment and you will soon have your own home entertainment center.

An entertainment center is a room specifically styled for state-of-the-art film viewing. It captures the feel of a cinema down to the last detail. With its cinema-like sounds and picture quality, a lot of people invest a lot of money to have an advanced entertainment center in their homes. It certainly eliminates the need to go to a movie house as long as you have a good supply of DVDs at your disposal.

Materials Used:

  • large HD TV
  • advanced DVD player
  • modern video game console
  • Guitar Hero/Rock Band
  • guitar controller, drum controller, microphone controller
  • sense surround speakers
  • modern-styled couch
  • lazy boy
  • soundproofing
  • thick curtains
  • a pair of tall lava lamps

Purchasing the Right Equipment

If you plan to create your entertainment center, you have to purchase things that will enhance your movie viewing experience. You could buy a high-tech DVD player with speakers that offer surround sound. You could also upgrade your TV to an advanced model that offers the HD (high definition) feature to give you crisp, cinema-quality pictures.

You could even get a get a good video game console like the WII or the PS3 (preferably with the game Guitar Hero or Rock Band along with the gadgets that come along with it) to further boost the entertainment factor. When you have all the advanced devices, you can switch your focus to your entertainment center’s furnishings.

The furnishings of your entertainment center should boost your viewing and playing experience. Get thick dark curtains so that you have complete control on the amount of illumination that enters your room. You could also buy a couch along with a comfortable lazy boy to be placed right in front of your TV. Those seats will always be more comfortable than the best seats in a movie theater, which is why staying home will be your best option once your entertainment center is done. Add a pair of five foot lava lamps to that mix and you can rest easy from the buying spree.

Setting-Up Your Entertainment Center

Now that you have all the proper components, think of your entertainment center as a jumbled jigsaw puzzle. All you need to do at this point is arrange everything accordingly. Cover all the windows of your entertainment center with your thick curtains. Set up the HD TV, DVD player, gaming console and the main speakers at one area of the room. Don’t worry about the connections, since each of these gadgets come with instruction manuals. Place the lazy boy a few feet from your TV, then set the couch adjacent to your lazy boy.

Once you have connected all your main devices, your next step is to set up the fun accessories. Spread the surround speakers strategically around your entertainment center to totally enhance your sound system. Place the guitar controller, the drum controller and the microphone controller near your TV so that you can easily get them whenever you want to play Rock Band. When all the accessories are ready, place one lava lamp on each side of your TV and you’re all set.

Now, you can bring your girlfriend to your entertainment center and make her realize that going out on weekends is so last summer. Why go out anyway when all that fun is right inside your entertainment center?
